He is a 1998 graduate of Pottsville Area High School and went on to Ursinus College where he majored in Political Science and played baseball and football.  Following college, Shane was an assistant to the Chairman of the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board and worked as a mortgage loan officer in California and Philadelphia prior to earning his Juris Doctorate in 2010 from Western Michigan University – Cooley Law School.

Shane is a third-generation Pennsylvania attorney. His maternal grandfather is the late Superior Court President Judge G. Harold Watkins, and his father is the late state Senator Frederick H. Hobbs who also was an attorney in Schuylkill County.

Shane is a general practice attorney with experience in a broad range of civil, administrative, and criminal matters. His practice focuses on general civil litigation, insurance coverage, business law, real estate, and municipal law. Shane has developed a strong and reliable referring network of attorneys for those legal matters that he is unable or unwilling to handle.  He is recognized by his peers as a Top Attorney in Pennsylvania as published by Philadelphia Magazine, 2019-2022.

Shane is active in the community. He serves as Solicitor for the Schuylkill County Zoning Hearing Board, Pine Grove Borough, Tremont Borough, Ryan Township Zoning Hearing Board, and Child Development Inc. He is a member of the Free and Accepted Masons and United Presbyterian Church and provides pro bono legal services for local non-profit entities and certain criminal-defense matters. Shane previously served as an Assistant District Attorney and occasionally serves as a contract attorney for the U.S. Small Business Association.

He resides in Schuylkill County with his wife, Rachael, and their three children.
